The fill is shredded polyurethane foam, described by Jaxx as a proprietary blend of multi-density “micro-cushions” [1][3]. Jaxx states the foam is CertiPUR-US certified and produced at its own factory (manufacturer claims, per its current Amazon listings) [4]; that certification requires low VOC emissions and excludes PBDEs, TDCPP, TCEP, formaldehyde, heavy metals, and regulated phthalates from the foam [5]. The chair ships vacuum-compressed and needs about 48 hours to reach full loft [1].

Covers come off and survive a washing machine: cold wash, low tumble dry, in both the leather-look padded microvelvet and the acrylic faux fur [1][3]. Underneath sits a poly-nylon liner with a childproof zipper holding the foam [1][3]. The warranty is Jaxx’s one-year “100% perfect guarantee” [3], the factory address is Atlanta, Georgia [3], and the school-supplier channel [2] is no accident: Foam Labs’ commercial distribution puts the Cocoon in classroom catalogs as readily as on Amazon and Wayfair [4].

Who is it for, and who should skip it?

Buy it if the flat mode is the point. Movie-night families, teen basements, reading corners, and nap-first buyers get the version of this product the design clearly serves first. It also earns its keep in classrooms and commons rooms, where Jaxx’s school distribution already operates [2]; the research on flexible classroom seating, including a 10-classroom study of 206 elementary students, found higher student satisfaction with the learning environment when flexible furniture (paired with teacher training) replaced traditional desks [7].
