CordaRoy's vs Lovesac (2026): Guest Bed or Foam Sack?

CordaRoy's Queen (89/100) turns into a guest bed for $399.99; Lovesac's SuperSac (86/100) is the better pure chair, listed at $1,325. Who wins each round.

CordaRoy’s vs Lovesac: buy the CordaRoy’s if guests sleep over, the Lovesac if the chair is the point. The CordaRoy’s Convertible Queen (89/100, No. 1) is a $399.99 chair that unfolds into a 60 x 80 inch bed [1]. The Lovesac SuperSac (86/100, No. 2) is a $1,325 insert-and-cover bundle that rates higher as a chair; the pages we read show no bed mode [2].

The two sit at No. 1 and No. 2 on our ranking of 12 chairs yet are different purchases: a four-foot shredded-foam chair with a bed folded inside, and a five-foot, two-part sack with a separate cover. The real decision is a guest bed versus a long-lived lounger with a swappable cover wardrobe; the lifetime-class warranties matter less than they sound. Both marks were filed under our Comfort Score model, and each product has a full write-up: the CordaRoy’s Convertible Queen review and the Lovesac SuperSac review.

Does a bean bag that turns into a bed make a worse chair?

A little, and the card says how much. Lovesac wins ergonomic support, 22.5/25 to CordaRoy’s 21.5/25, and fill quality, 19/20 to 17.5/20: 2.5 of the 45 points on offer (editorial arithmetic).

Both use shredded foam, so the gap is how much of it sits in the body, not fill class. The SuperSac insert holds 75 lb of Durafoam [4]; the Queen’s listed 29 lb is for cover and foam bed together [1], so Lovesac packs more than two and a half times the foam (editorial arithmetic: 75 divided by 29). The filed cards credit Lovesac’s weight with holding an upright sit and dock the Queen because owners say the seat slumps until it is re-fluffed. CordaRoy’s counters with adjustability: a paperclip opens the inner liner so you can add or remove foam, and the maker sells replacement fill [1]. Its NEST version, with built-in head and neck support [1], lists at $449.99 and 34 lb in a Queen chenille [10]; the filed 89 does not cover it, so it is queued for the re-score.

Direct evidence is one 2022 PeerJ crossover trial in which 14 adults showed lower trapezius muscle activity while napping in a bean bag than in a similar urethane chair [11]. The bag used was a Yogibo Max, and Webshark Inc. of Osaka, named beside it in the paper, funded the work as sponsored research (the authors declare no competing interests and say the funder had no role in the design or analysis) [11]. Napping is not sitting upright or sleeping through a night, and neither contender here was tested, so the study cannot referee this pair. See our back-health explainer.

Cover and care: which wardrobe is cheaper to change?

Lovesac wins cover durability, 14/15 to 13/15, and ease of care, 9/10 to 8.5/10. The margins are thin. The price tags are not.

A standalone Lovesac cover in Navy microsuede lists at $625 and ships made to order in 8–10 weeks [5], and covers carry a 3-year warranty [6]. CordaRoy’s offers chenille, corduroy, faux fur, and more [1, 3], sells a spare Queen cover in chenille for $149.99, and says any cover matching your bed size fits [12]. At list, a CordaRoy’s Queen plus a spare cover is $549.98, less than one Lovesac cover; the Lovesac bundle plus one extra cover is $1,950 (editorial arithmetic). An 8–10 week wait is long enough to change your mind about the color.

Lovesac’s cover washes alone in cold water on the gentlest cycle and dries flat, never tumble-dried [6]; CordaRoy’s outer cover is machine-washable and dryer-safe [1]. CordaRoy’s trails by half a point because of the spot-clean-only inner liner and the chore of re-stuffing the insert after a guest, which the filed review reports owners calling a two-person job.

Size and weight: how much floor does each one need?

CordaRoy’s takes size-to-space, 9.5/10 to 8/10, because one footprint does two jobs. The Queen chair needs 48 x 48 inches of floor and ships vacuum-packed [1]. Opened for guests it needs a clear 60 x 80 inches; that is 16 and about 33 square feet (editorial arithmetic), so check the room against our bean bag size chart. (Page copy once calls the Queen bed “full-size”; the spec block and size picker both say 60 x 80 inches.)

The Lovesac insert, about 5 ft wide and listed by Lovesac as seating two or more adults [4], is the roomier chair, placed once and left. The Lovesac pages the desk read list no sleeping size.

Delivery differs. CordaRoy’s fills each order after you place it, ships in 3–5 business days by FedEx Ground, free to the contiguous US [13], and the foam needs 24–48 hours to expand [1] and should not sit boxed for weeks [13]. Lovesac lists the insert at 1–2 weeks and the made-to-order cover at 8–10 [4, 5]; the bundle page shows no lead time [2], so confirm a date first.

Lovesac vs CordaRoy’s warranty: is 100 years the same as lifetime?

CordaRoy’s takes warranty and service, 10/10 to 8/10, as filed, and the paper gap is narrower than the points suggest.

CordaRoy’s warranty page says coverage runs for the life of the product and covers manufacturer defects in materials or workmanship, naming seams and zipper slides and pulls [7]. It excludes pets, moisture, normal wear and tear, zipper teeth, and sun or chemical discoloration. CordaRoy’s will repair or replace the part, or replace the product with a similar one, and says shipping costs may apply [7]. Lovesac’s help center lists a 100-year warranty on Sac inserts and a 3-year warranty on covers, both against manufacturer defects, and defers the remedy to separate terms [6]. Neither page says whether coverage follows the original buyer.

For the foam, 100 years and the life of the product are the same promise to any human buyer, and Lovesac’s insert page also says guaranteed for life [4]. The real differences are the cover (3 years at Lovesac; open-ended at CordaRoy’s, with normal wear excluded) and a claim process neither page spells out. The filed 10/10 stands. The CordaRoy’s review’s line calling it the only perfect warranty mark on our books is queued for the quarterly re-score together with Lovesac’s 8/10, which was scored on June 2026 terms; the help center reads 100 years on inserts as of October 1, 2026.

Service tilts toward Lovesac. Its 60-day trial starts when the whole order is delivered, sends prepaid labels, schedules a pickup, and refunds within 10–14 business days after verification [9]. It excludes custom-order and clearance items, and the standalone cover page is labeled custom, so ask whether a cover bought alone qualifies [5, 9]. CordaRoy’s allows 30 days from receipt, extends November and December orders to January 15, and leaves return shipping to you [8].

CordaRoy’s vs Lovesac SuperSac on value: what does the extra $925 buy?

CordaRoy’s takes value, 9/10 to 5.5/10. The maker’s Settle-in Sale takes 20% off all its bean bags from October 1 through 25 with a code shown on its site, which would put the base Queen near $320 (editorial arithmetic) [1, 3]. Lovesac’s bundle page listed $1,325.00 and no sale price on October 1 [2]; the filed September 13 check recorded $861.25 on sale.

Lovesac’s Sacs page did carry a “40% Off Sac Bundles” banner, an “Up to 25% Off Sacs” banner, and a sitewide “up to 25% Off Everything” banner [14]. The printed terms are narrow: the sitewide tiers begin at 15% off a single transaction of $3,500 at MSRP and end October 4, and the bundle offer’s last printed day was September 20 [14]. A lone $1,325 bundle falls outside both on that reading (editorial reading), so confirm the total at cart rather than assuming either price.

Take the Lovesac apart and the gap widens: the insert alone is $700 and the Navy cover alone is $625 [4, 5], so the insert by itself costs $300.01 more than a complete CordaRoy’s Queen at list, and the bundle gap is about $925 at list and $1,005 against the sale price (editorial arithmetic).

What does that money buy? Per the filed cards, a fill marked 1.5 points higher, covers with a 3-year warranty, a 60-day trial with pickup, and a sack two adults can share. Not a bed. For cheaper foam, see Ultimate Sack vs Lovesac. Both list prices still sit inside the June ranges the points were scored on ($300–$400; $930–$1,550), so the 9 and 5.5 stand; the swings are queued.

Lovesac wins four rounds and CordaRoy’s three, yet CordaRoy’s takes the total: its wins carry 7 points of margin (1.5 + 2 + 3.5) against Lovesac’s 4 (1 + 1.5 + 1 + 0.5). Warranty and value are the least settled rows, and neither mark moves until the re-score.

Is either one a safety risk?

On October 1, 2026 the desk queried CPSC’s recall API for CordaRoy, Cordaroys, and Lovesac and got no results; the most recent bean bag entry is the January 2018 Comfort Research cover recall [15]. The filed reviews rest on June 2026 searches. The category’s caution dates to August 2014, when Ace Bayou recalled about 2.2 million chairs after two children, ages 13 and 3, opened the zippers and suffocated inside [16]. ASTM F1912-21 targets that choking and suffocation hazard but excludes products filled with shredded foam or fiber-fill [17], which describes both of these.

Both still have cover zippers, and the CordaRoy’s cover must open to become a bed. The maker says the inner liner has a child-safe zipper that unlocks with a paperclip [1], which is a maker claim, not a certification. Adults should handle the zippers, and children belong outside both bags. See our toddler safety guide and the recall list.

CordaRoy’s vs Lovesac: which should you buy?

Buy the CordaRoy’s Convertible Queen if:

  • A guest ever needs a bed, and you can clear 60 x 80 inches of floor on those nights.
  • Your ceiling is about $400: $399.99 at list, near $320 during the maker’s sale through October 25 (editorial arithmetic).
  • You want a guarantee written to run for the life of the product, and a $149.99 spare cover.
  • You accept 30-day returns, return shipping on you, and re-stuffing the insert after each guest.

Buy the Lovesac SuperSac if:

  • The chair is the whole job and two adults will share it: 75 lb of foam in a body about 5 ft wide.
  • You can spend $1,325 for the bundle and $625 or more per extra cover, and can wait 8–10 weeks for a made-to-order one.
  • You want the longer safety net: a 60-day trial with pickup and a 100-year insert term.
  • The spot is permanent, because the insert weighs 75 lb.

Skip both if you want cheaper foam with no bed (see Lovesac alternatives) or a lighter bead bag (Lovesac vs Yogibo).

What can a research desk not tell you?

The desk has not slept on or sat in either product; everything here is spec-sheet and filed-record work. Whether a 10-inch shredded-foam bed beats an air mattress is the maker’s claim [1], and nothing in our files measures nightly use. How a claim resolves under “the life of the product” or 100 years in year ten is invisible from a spec sheet. The 4.9-star average (341 reviews) sits on CordaRoy’s own product page [1], and review pools tilt toward the delighted and the furious. Prices are perishable: the CordaRoy’s sale ends October 25, and Lovesac’s banners run on their own dates.

The Lovesac is the better chair and the CordaRoy’s is the better buy, which is what 89 to 86 says. The Lovesac earns its price only if the chair is the whole job.

Update log. October 1, 2026: first publication. Rechecked on October 1: product, warranty, return, and shipping pages at both makers, CordaRoy’s spare cover and NEST listings, the Lovesac Sacs page promotions, and the CPSC recall search. Filed values carried unchanged: both Comfort Scores, all criterion marks, both ranks, and the June 2026 owner-review base. Drift: the SuperSac bundle page showed $1,325 with no sale price on October 1, against $861.25 on sale in the September 13 check, and the Queen sits inside a sitewide 20% sale through October 25. Queued for the quarterly re-score: warranty and service (Lovesac’s 100-year insert term against the “only perfect mark” line, plus return terms), value for both, and ergonomic support for CordaRoy’s NEST.

Questions, answered

CordaRoy's vs Lovesac: which is better?

Neither wins everything. The CordaRoy's Convertible Queen scores 89/100 and the Lovesac SuperSac 86/100 on our model. Lovesac wins support, fill, cover, and care; CordaRoy's wins size, warranty, value, and the total. Buy the CordaRoy's at $399.99 if a guest needs a bed. Buy the Lovesac ($1,325 on its bundle page, October 1, 2026) if the chair is the whole job and two adults will share it.

CordaRoy's or Lovesac: is the SuperSac worth $925 more?

Only as a chair. On October 1, 2026 the SuperSac bundle page lists $1,325, about $925 above a $399.99 CordaRoy's Queen (editorial arithmetic), before any promotion Lovesac applies at cart. The extra buys 75 lb of foam against the Queen's 29 lb, a 60-day trial with pickup, and covers with a 3-year warranty; our fill marks are 19/20 against 17.5/20. It does not buy a bed, which the CordaRoy's includes.

Which is better for a guest room, CordaRoy's or Lovesac?

CordaRoy's. It is the bean bag that turns into a bed here: the Queen unfolds into a 60 x 80 x 10 inch surface the maker lists for two adults, from a 48 x 48 inch chair weighing 29 lb. The Lovesac pages the desk read list no sleeping size. Clear about 33 square feet of floor (editorial arithmetic) for guest nights, and expect to re-stuff the insert afterward.

Which warranty is better: CordaRoy's lifetime or Lovesac's 100 years?

For the foam they are close to equal. CordaRoy's covers manufacturer defects for the life of the product, naming seams and zipper slides and pulls, but excludes pets, moisture, and normal wear. Lovesac covers Sac inserts for 100 years and covers for 3 years, also against defects. Neither page says whether a claim follows the original buyer. Our filed marks, 10/10 and 8/10, were set on June 2026 terms and are queued for the quarterly re-score.

What are CordaRoy's and Lovesac's return policies?

CordaRoy's accepts returns within 30 days of receipt, extends November and December orders to January 15, and leaves return shipping to you. Lovesac offers a 60-day home trial with prepaid labels and a scheduled pickup, but excludes custom-order and clearance items, and a standalone SuperSac cover carries a custom label, so confirm eligibility first (checked October 1, 2026).
