Ultimate Sack vs Lovesac (2026): 85 vs 86, Wide Price Gap
Ultimate Sack 4000 (85/100) or Lovesac SuperSac (86/100)? The scored 4 ft bag is gone; today's 4 to 6 ft bags run $294.99–$434.99 against $1,325.
Ultimate Sack vs Lovesac is a one-point race with a wide price gap. The Lovesac SuperSac (86/100, No. 2) suits two adults wanting swap-in covers and a 100-year insert warranty, at $1,325 on its bundle page [1]. The Ultimate Sack 4000 (85/100, No. 3) suits one adult on a budget, but the scored bag is gone; today’s 4 ft bag starts at $294.99 [2].
The real decision is which Ultimate Sack you would actually receive. The 85 belongs to the classic bag in our Ultimate Sack 4000 review, scored on June 2026 terms; the 86 comes from our SuperSac review; both sit on our 12-chair ranking. Scores come from our Comfort Score model and stay as filed here, with October 1, 2026 prices and terms beside them and each drift flagged.

Does the Ultimate Sack’s 85 describe a bag you can still buy?
Not at 4 ft. The 85 was scored on the classic 4000: a removable, machine-washable cover over a separate liner, at $180–$280 on our June 2026 record. As of October 1, 2026 ultimatesack.com does not sell it; its 4 ft collection holds one non-removable-cover bag and a replacement cover [2]. That bag lists at $294.99 in suede and Juno and $309.99 in fur, with a locked zipper, foam blown straight into the cover, no inner liner, and “spot clean only.” The page gives no dimensions, weight, or warranty, and 17 of its 45 fabric-and-color options were in stock [5].
Size is the like-for-like problem. Lovesac lists the SuperSac at about 5 ft wide and 75 lbs; its own 4 ft MovieSac, at 45 lbs, is a $1,125 insert-and-cover setup in Bronze Wombat Phur [8]. Ultimate Sack’s nearer matches keep removable covers, with stock caveats: the 5 ft 5000 is sold as a footstool bundle at $349.99–$384.99, 13 of 34 options in stock [6], and its standalone page shows all 34 sold out [14]; the 6 ft 6000 lists at $384.99–$434.99, 14 of 36 in stock [7]. Non-removable 5 ft and 6 ft bags run $334.99–$349.99 and $389.99–$404.99 [15].
Ultimate Sack vs Lovesac on support and fill: who sits better?
Lovesac takes both rounds: ergonomic support 22.5/25 to 20/25, and fill quality and recovery 19/20 to 17/20.
Both bags use shredded foam, the class our foam versus beads explainer covers, so the filed gap is about execution and evidence, not fill type. Lovesac says its Durafoam is a three-density blend of recycled foam that “doesn’t compress over time” [1, 8]; Ultimate Sack says its foam is all new [6, 7]. Neither maker’s pages publish a foam density figure or a CertiPUR-US certificate, the program that documents low emissions and excludes named flame retardants [16], so the filed marks lean on owner-review synthesis, not lab numbers. Part of the support gap is size: the classic 4000 is a one-adult bag, while Lovesac says the SuperSac seats two or more.
Upkeep favors Ultimate Sack on paper and falters on stock. Its foam top-ups (16 lb at $134.99, 25 lb at $144.99) and 4 ft and 5 ft foam-and-liner combos ($174.99, $189.99) were all sold out on October 1, 2026; only the 3 ft and 6 ft combos were in stock [17]. The SuperSac pages we read list no refill foam, only the insert guarantee.
Lovesac or Ultimate Sack: which cover is easier to live with?
Lovesac takes cover durability, 14/15 to 13/15; ease of care is a 9/10 draw. Both marks were scored on removable covers, and only some Ultimate Sacks still have one.
The SuperSac is built around its cover: cold water, gentlest cycle, flat dry, no tumble dryer [10]. A Navy microsuede cover alone is $625, made to order with 8–10 week shipping [4]. Ultimate Sack’s removable covers are the opposite bargain: its FAQ says they machine wash and dry on a low or delicate cycle [11], and a 4 ft suede replacement for the 4000 is $69.99 [18]. The 4 ft bag sold now drops all that; its cover does not come off and it has no liner [5]. A spill on a SuperSac cover is a laundry problem; on that bag it is a cloth-and-optimism problem. The FAQ still calls all outer covers removable [11], so the care copy has not caught up with the bag.
Size and weight: why is it a draw at 8/10 each?
Each bag earned 8/10 for a different reason: the SuperSac is one big two-adult size, while the classic 4000 fits bedrooms and dorms but caps out at one adult. Weight is the cleaner comparison today, 75 lbs for the SuperSac insert against 70–75 lb for the complete 6000 [3, 7], and either is furniture you place once; our size chart is the check before ordering.
100 years or 10 years: whose warranty is worth more?
Ultimate Sack takes warranty and service on filed points, 9/10 to 8/10, and today’s paper makes it a split decision. Lovesac’s help center gives Sac inserts 100 years and covers 3 years against manufacturer defects [10]. Ultimate Sack’s FAQ gives zippers, fabric, and seams 10 years for manufacturer defects only, excludes abuse, excessive wear, and commercial use, and requires the original purchaser to file the claim [11]. Lovesac’s insert term outruns anything Ultimate Sack states for foam; Ultimate Sack’s 10 years beats Lovesac’s 3 on the cover. The 5 ft and 6 ft listings repeat a 10-year term against manufacturer defects [6, 7], but the non-removable 4 ft listing states none [5], so get the term in writing for that bag.
Returns diverge more. Lovesac’s 60-day trial starts at delivery, comes with prepaid labels and pickup, and excludes custom-order and clearance items [12]; the standalone cover is labeled custom, so ask whether it qualifies. Ultimate Sack allows 15 days from delivery for new, unused items in original packaging, with free return shipping when ReDo is added to the order and otherwise at your cost; its FAQ says 15 days of purchase, and for an unboxed sack the return steps say to discard the foam and ship back the cover and liner [11, 13]. A November 2025 capture of the 4000 page advertised 30-day returns [9].
Is an Ultimate Sack better value than a Lovesac?
Ultimate Sack takes value, 9/10 to 5.5/10, and October’s prices keep the gap open. The SuperSac bundle page lists $1,325 with no sale price; the filed September 13 check recorded $861.25. The Sacs page advertises “Up to 25% Off Sacs” and “40% Off Sac Bundles” [8], but its fine print sets the sitewide 15, 20, and 25 percent tiers at single transactions of $3,500, $6,000, and $8,500 at list price (September 21 through October 4) and dates the bundle offer September 14–20. The bundles page still showed SuperSac sets with a Squattoman and footsac at $1,125–$1,254, down from $1,875–$2,075 [19]. A lone $1,325 bundle sits below the first tier, so read it as a listed price, not a promised checkout price; we ran no cart.
Ultimate Sack’s floor rose too, from $180 to $294.99 at 4 ft, yet the gap holds like for like: $830.01 against the 4 ft MovieSac setup ($1,125), and $920.01 against the 6000 in suede ($404.99), a bag of similar weight [7, 8]. A 6000 at $404.99, a $229.99 foam-and-liner combo, and a $74.99 spare cover total $709.97, a little over half the listed bundle [7, 17, 20]. All of this is editorial arithmetic on listed prices. The premium buys the guarantee and the trial, not extra foam per dollar.
What does the score tally say?
| Criterion | Weight | Lovesac SuperSac | Ultimate Sack 4000 | Round winner |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ergonomic support | 25 | 22.5 | 20 | Lovesac |
| Fill quality and recovery | 20 | 19 | 17 | Lovesac |
| Cover durability and materials | 15 | 14 | 13 | Lovesac |
| Size-to-space fit | 10 | 8 | 8 | Draw |
| Ease of care | 10 | 9 | 9 | Draw |
| Warranty and service | 10 | 8 | 9 | Ultimate Sack |
| Value | 10 | 5.5 | 9 | Ultimate Sack |
| Total | 100 | 86 | 85 | Lovesac by 1 |
Lovesac wins three rounds, Ultimate Sack two, and two are draws. Four rows rest on inputs that have since moved: Ultimate Sack’s cover, care, and value marks were earned by the removable-cover 4000, and Lovesac’s warranty mark was scored on 3-year terms before the 100-year insert term was on record. We do not guess the re-score, but a gap that compares a bag you can buy with one the maker no longer sells is provisional until the quarterly re-score.
Is either one a safety risk?
No recall in CPSC’s database names either brand. Its recall API returned nothing for Ultimate Sack or Lovesac on October 1, 2026, and the bean bag results end with the January 2018 Comfort Research cover recall, about 1,200 covers [21, 22]. The larger precedent is Ace Bayou’s 2014 recall of about 2.2 million chairs after two children died inside the bags [23]. ASTM F1912-21, the voluntary bean bag standard, excludes shredded-foam fillers from its scope [24], so neither bag falls under it and the safety case rests on recall history and closure design. The removable-cover Ultimate Sacks list a No. 10 zipper with a child safety lock [7], the new 4 ft bag a “locked zipper” [5], and Lovesac says its Sacs use double redundant zippers [8]; all three are maker claims. Keep toddlers clear of the zippers regardless; our toddler safety guide has the rules and the recall list tracks every action on file.
Which should you buy: the SuperSac or an Ultimate Sack?
Buy the Lovesac SuperSac if:
- Two adults will share it and you want 75 lbs of foam under both of you.
- You can spend the listed $1,325 and still budget $625 for a spare cover that ships in 8–10 weeks.
- You want a 100-year insert warranty and a 60-day trial with pickup.
- Its spot is permanent; the insert is not a bag you carry upstairs.
Buy an Ultimate Sack if:
- Your ceiling is about $295 to $435: $294.99 for the 4 ft, $349.99 for the 5 ft footstool bundle, $384.99 and up for the 6 ft.
- You want a washable cover. Pick the removable-cover 5 ft footstool bundle or the 6 ft model, confirm “removable” on its page, and check stock; the 4 ft bag is spot clean only and the standalone 5 ft is sold out.
- You keep furniture a decade and will buy parts, such as the $74.99 6 ft suede cover or a foam-and-liner combo when in stock.
- You can live with 15-day returns.
Skip both if you want a sack that doubles as a guest bed. Our No. 1, the CordaRoy’s Convertible Queen (89/100), is the better answer; see CordaRoy’s vs Lovesac. For a different budget or format entirely, Lovesac alternatives and Lovesac vs Yogibo cover it.
What can a research desk not tell you?
The Bureau runs no lab and has handled neither bag. Year-five foam behavior, warranty claims handling, and how the non-removable 4 ft bag wears are on no spec sheet, and the owner synthesis behind the filed marks describes the classic 4000, not today’s bag. Prices and stock are the most perishable part of this page: Lovesac’s promotions carry end dates, and Ultimate Sack’s color options sell out one by one.
The SuperSac is the sack you buy once; an Ultimate Sack costs a fifth to a third as much and, when parts are in stock, can be kept going. Choose the model, not the score: a removable-cover 5 ft or 6 ft Ultimate Sack to save about $900 or more, the SuperSac if swap-in covers and the 100-year insert are the point.
Update log. October 1, 2026: first publication. Checked today: ultimatesack.com listings, stock by option, FAQ, and returns; lovesac.com SuperSac, warranty, trial, Sacs (with promotion fine print), and bundle pages; CPSC’s recall API; and a Wayback capture of the classic 4000 page. Carried unchanged until the quarterly re-score: both Comfort Scores, every criterion mark, ranks No. 2 and No. 3, and the June 2026 $180–$280 price record. Queued for that re-score: Ultimate Sack cover, care, and value; warranty for both brands; and Lovesac value ($1,325 on its bundle page with no sale price, against $861.25 on September 13).

Questions, answered
Ultimate Sack vs Lovesac: which is better?
Lovesac's SuperSac scores 86/100 and the Ultimate Sack 4000 scores 85/100 on our research-desk model. Lovesac wins support, fill, and cover; Ultimate Sack wins warranty and value; size and care tie. Choose the SuperSac for a 75 lb two-adult sack with swap-in covers and a 100-year insert warranty, listed at $1,325 on October 1, 2026. Choose an Ultimate Sack to spend about $295 to $435 on shredded foam, and read its cover line first.
Is Ultimate Sack as good as Lovesac?
On our filed scores it trails by one point, 85 to 86, and both use shredded foam. Lovesac leads on fill, support, and cover marks; Ultimate Sack leads on warranty and value. The catch: the 85 belongs to a removable-cover 4 ft bag ultimatesack.com no longer sells. As a Lovesac alternative, compare the 5 ft footstool bundle or the 6 ft removable-cover bag, from $349.99, and check stock first.
Is the Lovesac SuperSac worth $1,325 compared with an Ultimate Sack?
Only if you want what the premium buys: an insert warranted for 100 years, a 60-day trial, and swap-in covers. Ultimate Sack's 6 ft removable-cover bag lists at $404.99 in suede; adding a $229.99 foam-and-liner combo and a $74.99 spare cover totals $709.97 (editorial arithmetic, October 1, 2026), a little over half the $1,325 the SuperSac bundle page lists.
Can you wash an Ultimate Sack cover?
It depends on the model. Ultimate Sack's FAQ says outer covers are removable, machine washable, and dried on low or delicate, and its 3, 5, and 6 ft removable-cover bags still list that. Its non-removable-cover bags, including the only 4 ft bag on sale October 1, 2026, are spot clean only with mild soap, water, and a cloth. Lovesac covers wash cold on the gentlest cycle and dry flat.
Ultimate Sack 4000 vs SuperSac: how do size and warranty compare?
The classic 4000 is about 4 ft (45–48 in across, 35–40 lb); the SuperSac is about 5 ft wide, 75 lbs, and seats 2+ adults per Lovesac. Closer Ultimate Sack sizes are the 5 ft 5000 (50–55 lb) and 6 ft 6000 (70–75 lb). Lovesac warrants inserts 100 years and covers 3; Ultimate Sack warrants zippers, fabric, and seams 10 years.
